I was watching a group of young women practicing Balinese dance at the Arma Museum in Ubud, Bali. During a break, this young women turned into shaft of light.
Balinese dancing is fascinating in its fine control of poses and graceful movements of the hands. One of the more popular dances (at least for tourists) is the Barong and Keris dance. Elements of this dance often include, a lion, mischievous monkeys, a fearful witch, demonic possession, a quest, all to the pounding beat of a gamelan orchestra. The battle between the forces of good as expressed in the barong (lion) against the witch (Randga) culminate when the witch, when attacked by followers of the Barong, casts a spell that forces the followers to turn their lethal curved keris knives into their very bodies (the horror!!!) But in the nick of time the Barong delivers his followers and casts out the evil Randga.
