Villages along the coast of Papua are not connected by road. The region is sparsely populated and the mountainous nature of the region makes road building and maintenance expensive and difficult. So for small villages along the coast people travel back and forth by boat. Usually the boats are long and narrow with double outriggers on each side. We were taking a trip to a coastal village when we made a stop to drop off some people. This little fellow was enjoying the tropical waters and grabbed onto our outrigger.
